    Quick Updates

Posted on Sunday, May 15th, 2011

Today is going to be a rather short post, but I do have a lot to tell you all about! First off, I’ve finally hit 70,000 words in my Falling through the Threshold WIP as well as only having a single chapter left before I start writing the very beginning of the end!

Another bit of awesome news is that I was mentioned on Nuchtchas’ podcast, “Nutty Bites”.  She put a link back to my show, which was awesome and I had to send out a big shout out to her.  Once again, in case you haven’t seen my review of her podcast, I would suggest going and checking out her site.  She has four episodes out now and she’s brilliant to listen to. I’ve also been mentioned on the Beyond the Wall Podcast, a show about the Game of Thrones TV show from HBO.  Watch the show and then listen to the podcast!

The other thing that is awesome is that I took on the challenge of Maynowrimo, which is like Nanowrimo but it’s it May and you can set your own goal.  I set myself a goal of 35,000 words, which should be just what I need to finish my WIP – Falling Through the Threshold.  I’ll still be writing up my blog posts and working on my Dual Melodies WIP.  I’ll try to keep you guys updated as to what my word count is most likely on a weekly basis on Sundays.  This week of course my word count was zero for Sunday.  I was gaming and then rested my wrist for the rest of the day afterwards.  Don’t worry I am getting started and I’ll be caught up in no time.

I went to a class for my job today on time management and balance in the workplace.  I’m going to be doing a full post on that later but for right now let it suffice to say that the class was very interesting.  I was able to take a look at my own life and see where and how I can try and improve.  I really hope it him will help me write more after I’m able to implement the changes.  One of the best parts of the class was that they gave us a book to read almost like a textbook.  It’s all about how to be an effective person and while I’m a very effective person right now, it looks pretty interesting.

I finally got a package of mine from Amazon.  If you follow my blog all you know that I have reasonably bad tendinitis.  However I’ve noticed that my arms don’t hurt nearly as much if I’m able to keep the wrists warm.  A few weeks ago I found an item on Amazon and ordered it to help with the pain.  They are a set of black arm warmers from a company called Janska.  They reach from the base of my knuckles all the way up to just below my elbows.  They’re made of Thinsulate and so far they’re pretty warm.  I’ve included a picture so you see how they look.  I figure I’d rather look like an idiot and not hurt instead of being an idiot and trying to write through pain.

The last bit of semi-interesting news, but is actually all about an awesome new little device I got myself.  It’s run off my computer’s USB port and the talking into changed for either a fan or a small light.  It is awesome, though unfortunately I can’t use the fan aspect when I’m trying to run Dragon.  It modulates my voice and then Dragon can’t understand me.  I’ll put the picture of it up, as well.  I picked it up from Chapters and I must say I’m rather pleased with the purchase.

Well that’s all I’m going to mention today.  In the meantime, keep writing and let me know if you’re taking part in MayNoWriMo!
