Summer Sleeping, having a blast…
Posted on Monday, August 8th, 2011It is the summer months I hate the most, even after all these years. Some find comfort in the warming weather, some find wholeness in the blazing sun, but for me, the blazing sun only means that I get slow, tired and my mind quiets. My normal quick wit is replaced by a lizard brain that seems to only want to lay down on a heated rock until the darkest time of night arrives when I’ll run into the house to hide under a cover. Either way, none of these seem very conductive to writing, you may notice.
So, what have I been up to the last month, you ask? Well, I have been keeping myself busy, even if I haven’t been able to post. I wrote nearly 35,000 words last month, including quite a bit on my novel. In fact, I’m only 2000 words away from being done my novel now. I would have had it finished a week ago, but my tendinitis started acting up horribly. So, now I’m just waiting until my hand allows me to start using it again.
The last week and a half I have been resting my hands, keeping up with a bit of reading and judging my hands. They take quite a while to heal unfortunately, which normally leaves me feeling weak and annoyed. Fortunately, its finally getting better. I was able to type this myself tonight and even better, I may be able to write a bit tomorrow, though I still have to spend the majority of my time resting my hand.
I have been trying to take part in Camp Nanowrimo, though my activity there seems somewhat curtailed, since my hand has started hurting. The one place where any of you can keep track of me during these hot months is Twitter though, so make sure you’re there if you want to keep up what I’ve been doing lately.
Until then, what have you been writing? Is there a particular month that you write best in?
